Overview
Located one mile from the entrance to Denali National Park on the banks of the Nenana River, the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge offers activities and modern comforts on 25 acres at the edge of the wilderness, with easy access to the park. Here guests can go on Denali Park tours, raft the Nenana River, or just enjoy the main lodge and setting, restaurants, gift shops, and spectacular outdoor viewing terraces located along the river walk.

Activities
Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge offers a variety of optional excursions. The name “Denali” means “The Great One” in the native Athabascan language. At 20,310 feet above sea level, Denali is the highest peak in North America and is surrounded by one of the world’s most spectacular wildlife sanctuaries. Denali National Park is home to many types of wildlife including caribou, moose, wolves, Dall sheep, bald eagles, and the mighty grizzly bears.

Building History
Construction began in 1986 and the lodge opened in the summer of 1987 as Harper Lodge Princess. First expansion completed summer 1990. Second expansion and name change completed summer 1993 at an approximate cost of $21 million. In 1999 Princess acquired an adjacent lodge on 4.9 acres and incorporated this property into the existing lodge for the summer 2000 season. In 2004 an extensive expansion added 88 new guest rooms, a new main lodge building and a main street walking village with new retail outlets. In 2006 the lodge expanded by 166 rooms bringing the room total to 651 and making it the largest hotel in the state of Alaska. In early 2008, renovations increased the room total to 656 rooms. In 2017, rooms were added, bringing the total to 663.
