Working at Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge has given me the opportunity to join a close-knit always-changing family of team members and guests. Evidence of the family environment that I speak of is ever present at the Lodge throughout the entire season, but most apparent on August 25th, the Christmas in August celebration. Front of House and Back of House employees spent the day dressed in their holiday best with Christmas costumes that entertain. In the evening I had the privilege of directing a group of carolers, conducting a sing-a-long in the Great room with about 100 guests and fellow team members. Well-known Christmas songs rang out while I offered a solo performance of ‘Oh Holy Night.’ The feelings of family, friendship and care were overwhelming in that moment. All of the good tidings of Christmas cheer were evident. I am so thankful to everyone at Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, guests and team members alike, for such a rewarding and memorable experience.
